Elanor and Scott's Adventures in Dubai

Another action packed week - Scott continued to go to the beach every day (no really, that's where his office his!).
I went for an interview at KPMG's fancy office in one of the Emirates Towers and I saw a camel

I'll get Scott to post up his pictures of real camels next week.
Then we went to see some villas in an area called the Springs, including this one

and guess what??! It's ours now!!! So when you come you'll be staying in this guest room (or the other one) and eating your dinner under this gazebo!

So, hope you're all as excited as we are. Then yesterday I got a job offer from KPMG, so I start..... on Sunday! No messing around here, so no more lady of leisure for me. Right then, have to go now as we're off to the local Lebanese restaurant for dinner.

Hi all - we're at the end of week one and it's been a really strange mix of familiar (Debenhams, Macdonalds, Marmite, Cadbury's, english voices) and very unfamiliar (camels, warm weather, luxurious apartment, Sheikh Zayad Road, huge towers) - the list goes on.

I guess we're both settling in OK. Scott started work on Sunday and I've been hard at work finding properties for me and Scott, and also Scott's two colleagues Steve and Arif. As we all came over from the UK on the same day we've all been in the same boat so we've been discovering things as we go along.

You'll be pleased to hear that Cadbury's is proper here, so no need to load up your suitcases when you come over. Also Marmite is readily available although I haven't seen any of the squeezy bottles, and haven't seen any Yorkshire tea bags yet (will keep looking!).

Hopefully you should all have our contact details here now and I will let you know as soon as we move. Property searching is also very different here as the renter has to pay the agent 5% of the annual rent for finding the property!
